Newborn Photography Vancouver | Alyssah

She is 15 days old. We typically photograph newborns between 5 and 12 days. Often newborn babies after the first 2 weeks are more alert and wake up quickly from slight movements.

One tip to work with babies after 2 weeks is to start with wrapping. Newborn babies feel secure when tightly wrapped. I also move the baby slowly and hold the arms and legs in place so startling doesn’t wake the baby up.

Most of the time, newborn babies sleep well in a basket as the space is tight and doesn’t wake up from startling.

This little one was quite awake in the basket so I ended up photographing her awake in the basket. Remind you though, that we always have someone right next to the basket to support the baby’s head when needed.
