Newborn sessions are the best done within 2 weeks from the birth. After a baby is born, he grows very fast and after a couple of weeks, he starts to get more alert and stretchy and it gets a bit challenging to put him in curled newborn poses. For that reason, it is the best to book a newborn session before the baby is born. Ideally a couple of months before the due date. I take only three newborn sessions per week to accommodate the unpredicted birth dates as only 3% is born on actual due date.
When I receive a call from moms who just delivered their babies or a week later after settling in the new life pattern, unfortunately I have to say no to photographing their babies as often I am not available. Some moms really want me to photograph their babies at my earliest availability and I get to photograph newborn babies in their third or forth week. And sometimes I still get to do the newborn poses and Greyson was one of them. He was still easy in curled up poses even though he was exactly three weeks old when I photographed him. But as you can tell from the images, Greyson was a lot more alert than less-than-two-weeks-old newborns, which could be challenging for some of the newborn poses.
