Rachel Yoon Photography offers hands-on training for photographers looking to build or sharpen their newborn and maternity photography skills — taught in our Burnaby studio, in small groups (max. 4 students) or one-on-one. Workshops run periodically rather than on a fixed schedule. Reach out below to hear about upcoming dates or to arrange a private session.
Full hands-on training, fully customized to your goals — whether you're preparing to take your first paid clients or looking to take your existing business to the next level. Available any Sunday, and tailored to cover whichever of the following you want to focus on:
- Wrapping techniques
- Posing transitions and session flow
- More challenging poses (froggy, taco, Simba, and others)
- Posing with parents or siblings
- Lighting and camera setup
- Editing workflow
Open to any level, from complete beginner to advanced.
Best suited for photographers who are just starting in newborn photography, or who have less than a year of experience. With only a handful of students, you'll spend far less time waiting and far more time actually practicing — and leave with a genuinely varied portfolio that reflects real session flow, not just a few repeated setups.
This workshop will cover:
- Various wrapping techniques
- Propping with baskets for creative setups
- Classic beanbag poses for timeless looks
- Posing with parents and siblings
- Lighting and angles for professional results
- Soothing techniques for newborns
- Post-processing and editing tips

10:00 am: First newborn model (no sibling) — wrapping, posing, propping

1:00 pm: Second newborn model, with sibling — sibling & parent posing
3:30 pm: Post-processing & editing session
4:30 pm:Final Q&A
