Our Clients’ Favourite Newborn Images

When we schedule a newborn session, we ask our clients to look through our Instagram or Facebook and send us 5 favourite newborn images. By asking them their favourite newborn images, we knows what styles  and newborn poses they like and can plan the session ahead of time. From there, we add our artistic touch to make each session unique.

Here are FIVE favourite newborn images that many of our clients pick.

1. Froggy pose

Not every baby likes this pose and it requires the baby to be sleeping and relaxed. This pose also requires a spotter and supporting hands so do not try it at home. This is a newborn pose that a lot of beginner newborn photographers find challenging but we’ve done it hundreds times.

2. Lying in a bucket with a bear outfit

This has been one of the most picked newborn poses for baby boys. However, the same pose is also available for baby girls in different colours but we do the grey colour for girls as well. With the grey backdrop, a little bit of green, wooden basket underneath, and the bear theme is quite adorable.

3. Wrapping or Outfit in a box

Mint is one of my favourite colours for both baby girl and boy. The Marino wool knit is soft and cozy, and clients love the look. The newborn pose here looks curly and shows the tiny newborn stage well. We have white, brown and green grey boxes like this, and the filling for this newborn pose is usually marino wool or fur. This pose works for every baby and especially when the baby is awake.

4. Bum-up or side pose on a beanbag

The side pose is one of the very natural newborn poses. There is something comforting about sleeping sideway, and I think that appeals to the clients. The newborn session is not always about posing. We get amazing images by just capturing the baby’s most comfortable positions. Contrast to the side pose, the bum-up pose is definitely more posed. Depending on the baby, we may cross the feet or leave them on the side like this example as we want the baby to be still comfortable. The bum up pose is another good pose to do when a baby is awake.

5. Baby with parents’ hands

Whether a baby is held on dad’s hands or wrapped around with mom and dad’s hands, this has become one of the most favourited poses. Because these poses are captured in black backdrop, these images look great in both colour and black & white.

So these are the five favourite newborn poses our clients pick quite often. However, there are countless poses we do, which is why no two newborn sessions are the same look. We continue to create new looks but ultimately we love to create what our clients will cherish. When clients give us freedom to play with our creativity, we try new looks, new props, and new poses.Which one is your favourite?
